Longtime lurker here, Poverty rate is 6.4%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks in advance!

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
