Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,401 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? Appreciate any input. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..
