Most overrated things about Maumelle

Rent is about $995/month for a decent place. With a population of 19,286, Maumelle is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 19,286 people. The median home value here is around $276,900, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $995 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited nightlife
- Not very walkable
- Homelessness issues downtown
Is this normal for Maumelle? Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..
