Moving from Albuquerque to Mayagüez zona urbana next month
First post here. The unemployment rate is 10.2%, which is concerning. Household incomes average around $17,092 in Mayag--ez zona urbana. Poverty rate is 47.3%, which is higher than I expected. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from San Diego for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Road conditions need improvement. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
