The good and bad of living in Mayagüez zona urbana
Hey, Average temperature is around 78--F, so it's warm year-round. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 11 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
