Housing in Mayflower Village compared to Kansas City

Hello, I'm retired and Household incomes average around $95,521 in Mayflower Village. Homes are going for about $841,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,886 for rent here. With a population of 5,303, Mayflower Village is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Let me know your thoughts. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 14 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a nurse and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is improving and there's always something going on.
