Freelancing from Maynard -experience?

Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 10,663 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Maynard sits at 225.3 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Moved here from Boston about 6 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to cost of living but Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Springfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..
