Remote worker thinking about Maynard

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $119,549 in Maynard. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 9 years. Moved from LA for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Austin about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Dallas about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
