Honest thoughts on life in Mays Chapel

Hello, I've been here for 10 years and You can expect to pay around $1,768 for rent here. The median home value here is around $447,300, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $447,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Homelessness issues downtown
What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Fairview area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a chef and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is average and there's always something going on.
