Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Mayville sits at 164.6 per 100K. Homes are going for about $184,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 45--F, so expect cold winters. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Uptown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
