Cost of living reality check -Maywood

Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $212,600, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
