Thinking about relocating to McAlester from Tampa

You can expect to pay around $906 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
