McComb vs St. Louis -which is better?

Crime rate is something to consider -McComb sits at 361.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation? The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I work in education here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Boston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
