Is McDonough worth moving to in 2026?

Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -McDonough sits at 274.0 per 100K. Median household income is $77,734, which feels about average for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. I've been in Greenfield for 13 years. Moved from Tampa for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Nightlife is limited. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
