McDonough quality of life -am I missing something?
Random thought, I'm a 54-year-old chef and It's a a smaller city city with about 30,056 people. Median household income is $77,734, which feels about average for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
