Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Tampa it's challenging.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 55, moved here 5 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Midtown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The outdoor recreation situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is solid in most areas.

I've lived in Sunset for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The public transit scene is average
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
