Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,544/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 8,198 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in East for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The walkability scene is solid
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
