Hey everyone, It's a a small town city with about 8,198 people. Median household income is $88,578, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Anyone in a similar situation? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Chicago it's improving.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The housing market is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Minneapolis about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is challenging in most areas.
