Anyone else love living in McGregor?

OK so I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 5,608, McGregor is a small town. Rent is about $1,059/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
