You can expect to pay around $669 for rent here. Household incomes average around $35,988 in McKenzie. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Denver about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..
