Cheapest neighborhoods in McLean?

Curious what people think. My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -McLean sits at 130.5 per 100K. Median household income is $250,001, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Chicago about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
