Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 50,232, McLean is a smaller city. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Diego about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in real estate here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is solid.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..
