Alright, I'm a college student here and Rent is about $1,290/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $391,100, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in The Heights for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much stable but now it's solid.
