Raising a family in McMinnville -thoughts?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and Rent is about $1,290/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $70,060 in McMinnville. You can expect to pay around $1,290 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
Cheers. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.
