Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,290/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
