Is McMinnville getting better or worse?

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $147,200 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 57, moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Midtown and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The community vibe situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Baltimore about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely decent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (West) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
