Thinking about relocating to McNair from Pittsburgh

OK so Born and raised here. Rent is about $2,253/month for a decent place. Median household income is $123,327, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks for reading. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I've lived in Greenfield for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in education here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is better than expected. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 15 years. Moved from Houston for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Limited entertainment options. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
