Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to LA it's excellent.

I've lived in South for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..
