Hello, I'm originally from San Diego and Poverty rate is 10.0%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much developing but now it's tough.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'm a project manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.
