Median household income is $77,124, which feels about average for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in North area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Austin about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.
