OK so I'm single, late 40s, and You can expect to pay around $1,859 for rent here. The median home value here is around $351,600, which seems about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Can feel isolated. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Fairview) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
