What to expect moving to Medford?

OK so I've been here for 14 years and Rent is about $2,404/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Appreciate any input. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
