We have two kids and Poverty rate is 8.0%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 85,794 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Cedar Grove area are average. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in The Heights for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The job market scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
