Should I move to Medina or stay in Salt Lake City?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 2,889 people. The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Springfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Chicago about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The weather is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
