Rent in Medulla getting crazy

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 30s, and You can expect to pay around $1,227 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Medulla sits at 446.6 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.4%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Let me know your thoughts. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 9 years. Moved from Phoenix for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited entertainment options. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
