What surprised you most about Medulla?

Crime rate is something to consider -Medulla sits at 446.6 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 57, moved here 11 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Riverside and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The housing market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Uptown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in East for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The nightlife scene is tough

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
