Working remotely from Mehlville

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,029/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 5.3%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,029 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 30, moved here 9 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Sunset and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The cost of living situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
