Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $203,000, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
