Relocating to Melbourne, FL -pros and cons?

Alright, The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,411/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $272,900, which seems about average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Chicago about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
