Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $430,300 on average. The median home value here is around $430,300, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I overthinking this?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
