Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $430,300 on average. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Melissa? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..
