Best areas to explore in Melrose?

Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,933/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
