Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 24,513, Melrose Park is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this?

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The public transit is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Sunset) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is average in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in legal here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The school system is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
