Worst things about Melrose Park nobody talks about

First post here. I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Melrose Park sits at 297.6 per 100K. Household incomes average around $64,740 in Melrose Park. It's a a small town city with about 24,513 people. Poverty rate is 8.6%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Active local events

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Has anyone dealt with this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
