What Melville does better than anywhere else

Hi all, It's a a small town city with about 19,187 people. Homes are going for about $778,400 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
