Moving to Melville -what should I know?

Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. Poverty rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $2,591 for rent here. Median household income is $103,393, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Moved here from Atlanta about 1 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

I work in real estate here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.
