OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The safety is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Fairview for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
