Raising a family in Memphis -thoughts?
OK so I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,155 for rent here. With a population of 10,626, Memphis is a small town. Homes are going for about $292,200 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
