Is Memphis still affordable for a single person?

Can we talk about

I just moved to Germantown from Salt Lake City. Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.

I'm paying /mo for a 2-bed in Germantown and honestly is getting ridiculous. The weather averaging 64F year-round is {weather_feel}.

Honestly the biggest downside is the humidity. Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable.

Thoughts?

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.

I moved to Mud Island from San Diego about 9 years ago. Initially I was excited but nervous. But after settling in, Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable..

A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Mud Island and Crosstown for housing
- Don't judge the whole city by downtown
- Explore beyond the popular neighborhoods

The biggest adjustment was job market. Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from.. Overall I'd give Memphis a 9/10 for retirees.
