Best and worst neighborhoods in Mendota Heights

Curious what people think. I'm a 47-year-old social worker and The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. With a population of 11,644, Mendota Heights is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 11,644 people. Rent is about $1,557/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Downtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
